This page compiles different activity opportunities for Oulu’s youth. You may find a new hobby, friends, information and answers to your questions about queerness.
Queer activities focus on the diversity of gender and sexuality. The activities support young people who need peer support and activities, young people who are reflecting on their identity or want to promote human rights.
For 11–17-year-old young people from 17–19.30

Would you like to meet other like-minded young people of your age in a relaxed and safe environment? There will be shared play, crafts, baking and eating at the activities. You are more than welcome to join us either alone or with a friend.

Come spend your Tuesday evenings in a relaxed and safe environment. We follow the principles of safe spaces. You do not have to define yourself in any way to participate. We avoid assumptions and we respect everyone’s privacy.

Sexuality and sexual needs change during the course of your life. During sexual counseling, you can discuss your needs and problems as well as your gender and sexual identity. You may also ask questions about youth. You can visit the sexual counselor alone or together with your partner. The conversations are confidential.
You can and should seek sexual counseling when some question about sexuality is bothering you or interests you. If something is bothering your sexual wellbeing, it is better to discuss the matter with a professional than to be alone with the issue.
Sexual counseling is offered at the Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre every Thursday. The counseling is free of charge and confidential. You may book an appointment from the number 050 599 2293.
Do you feel like you are alone with your thoughts regarding your sexual orientation or gender? Can you not find a community that suits you? Our voluntary support persons will help you figure out your thoughts with one-on-one discussions. They can also help you find a community or suitable support services for you.
Oulun Seta has trained volunteers who offer peer support based on their own life experiences. The support persons will discuss the topics that bother you and give advice. If needed, they can guide you to Oulun Seta’s groups.
