Three people by the water, one standing and two sitting on a concrete edge. In the background, there is a bridge and buildings. The sky is partly cloudy.

Outreach Youth Work

The city of Oulu’s outreach youth work services are directed to 16–29-year-old young people and young adults. Primarily, the outreach youth workers serve young people outside of education and employment, as well as people who need help with problems. The outreach youth workers help young people to create happier conditions in which they can continue their life confidently.

Common themes discussed are, for example, housing, becoming independent, wellbeing, economics, human relationships, work and studies. You do not need any specific discussion topics beforehand, hoping for change is enough. Individual meetings are held in the Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre or elsewhere based on the young person’s wishes. The city of Oulu’s outreach youth work implements a lot of group activities which can be found on the Byström website: Byström Open Groups(coming) and Byström Registered Groups.(coming)

You can visit outreach youth work without reservation on Wednesdays from 13.00–15.00 (Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre, Hallituskatu 5a, Oulu)

You can contact an outreach youth worker directly or utilize the yhteysetsivään.fi contact request service.
