The Youth City Meeting is an annual event where children and young people decide on various acquisitions and statement proposals.
The City Meeting has been allocated a budget of 10,000 €, which the children and young people decide how to distribute.
The work of children and young people starts in classrooms, progresses to student councils’ boards, and continues to regional participation groups. Representatives from the participation groups, i.e., children and young people, bring proposals from their area to the City Meeting. The chairpersons of
the City Meeting are also young people from Oulu.
Proposals brought to the City Meeting can also be statement proposals. Ideas that need more than €10,000 or continuous funding are statement proposals.
All pupils in Oulu have the opportunity to influence the proposals by coming up with good development ideas in their classes. Any child or youth can also submit development ideas directly to regional children and youth participation groups or the Youth Council ONE.
