Introduction
The Pelifarmi Lounge is meant for 17–29-year-old young people living in Oulu who are interested in independent video game development and developing personal professional skills in the game industry. The activities are voluntary.
Goals
The goal of the activities is to offer young people the facilities, equipment and programs for independent video game production and reinforcing their skills in the game industry. The use of the facilities and working are determined by the needs of the young people.
For example:
- Assemble your own game development team and come work on you project and network with other young people using the facilities who are interested in the same field
- Create material for your portfolio and collect feedback
- Draw, code or animate and reinforce your skills independently
Equipment
The Lounge uses the Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre’s Gaming and Media Space’s computers which include the needed game development programs, such as Unity, Visual Studio, Blender and Adobe programs, such as Photoshop and Substance 3D Painter. The equipment also includes four pen tablets.
Participation
The Pelifarmi Lounge activities are voluntary for young people and are organized twice every year from early January to mid-February. The second period, when facilities are available, starts in August and lasts until early September. Detailed schedules are published separately. The participant must be a 17–29-year-old young person living in Oulu.
Booking and using facilities is simple and must be discussed beforehand with Pelifarmi staff. The Gaming and Media Space is located in the Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre’s facilities at the address Hallituskatu 5.
