Organizational Activities

Different associations and organizations work for the common good and often do not pursue profit. The basis of the activity can be promoting a hobby, common good or an idea.

Associations and organizations organize activities for their members. Activities are possible for non-members as well, for example, in the form of events. The members are brought together by a shared interest. Becoming a member and participating in activities is voluntary.

The simple act of spending time together in a group is important to many people participating in the activities. By participating in the activities, you can meet new people and learn new skills when taking on new tasks. You can also influence matters through associations and organizations.

Examples of different organizations are sport and exercise organizations, cultural organizations, youth organizations and leisure and hobby organizations.

How to join:

  1. Consider what interests you – are you interested in culture, exercise, or helping others.
  2. Once you have found what you are interested in, find out your region’s organization offerings. You can find information about the operators online, via social media channels and from the members of the organizations. Information about the Oulu region’s operators is listed behind the links on the right side of this webpage.
  3. Participate boldly in the events and activities of the organization. If going alone worries you, ask for a friend, acquaintance or family member to join you for your first visit. Become a member if participating in the activities requires it.
  4. You may participate in the work of the organizations if you want to or are able to. The work tasks can be small or large, but valuable all the same.

There are many different organizations operating in Oulu and everyone can participate in them. You can look for interesting organizations from the Kumppanuuskeskus, where the facilities of many organizations and associations are located.

If you cannot find an organization or association that interests you, you can consider establishing one yourself with other people with a shared interest. If you are considering establishing a new club, organization or association, you should find out what financial aid you can receive for the activity. It is also possible to receive financial aid for the organization of events.
