When the light decreases in the autumn, we often feel like staying at home and burying ourselves on the couch. It’s worth doing that from time to time, but what if this autumn you added at least one exercise session to the week for balance? How about taking a photo walk to Ainola Park in autumn or go mushroom picking.
In addition to putting one slipper in front of the other, there are plenty of other options available. Places specially designed for exercise, various sports shifts and guided classes can be found all over the city. There is plenty to choose from in Oulu!
Tip!
You might not always feel like going out alone, so it’s a good idea to persuade a friend to join you. It’s nice to catch up with a friend while exercising – on a walk or in the sauna at the swimming pool. You can get a boost for exercise when you encourage each other.
Sports Services - something for everyone
-
Oulu has a wide range of different sports facilities. You can swim in swimming pools and beaches – on Tuira beach all year round! In gyms, you can build strength and mobility both indoors and outdoors. When the ground is unfrozen, the jogging tracks offer good jogging terrain, and in the winter, you can ski and skate. You can find the locations, opening hours, prices and much more of the sports facilities on the Sports Services website.
-
Action exercise offers versatile and free exercise for 13–19-year-olds in different parts of the city. There is an instructor or supervisor who has the necessary equipment with them. So you don’t necessarily need your own equipment! You can just join, you only need to register for the padel venues. You can find the schedules and locations on the Action exercise website.
-
In the guided exercise, you will find, among other things, gym groups, ball game groups, fitness exercises, dance groups and calmer Asahi groups, Pilates and body care groups. There is still room in many of this autumn’s groups! Group-specific prices and registration can be found in the online registration of sports services.
-
Applied physical exercise may be suitable for you if you have a disability or a long-term illness. A functional disability can concern, for example, seeing, hearing, moving, memory, concentration, learning, working, controlling one’s own behavior or experiencing anxiety. Among the types of applied sports, you will find, for example, martial arts, ball games (applied football, para hockey, basketball), gym sports (climbing), dance and water sports.
The timetable for Action sports has an * marking for groups that are also suitable for young people with disabilities.
For more information contact the sports services.
Tip!
If you are an unemployed job seeker, you may be able to get a free daytime exercise card. You can choose either a swimming card or a gym card. Read more about the conditions for obtaining the card and the terms of use from the link below.
More movement!
