How wonderful – summer is finally here! Even though Oulu enjoyed an unusually warm spring, it still feels especially good to officially welcome the start of summer. For many students, this also marks the beginning of a well‑deserved summer break. The staff at Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre sends warm congratulations to all newly graduated professionals and new upper secondary school graduates. Summer brings a festive atmosphere, but also plenty of activities and shared moments at Byström.

In June, Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre mainly operates according to its regular opening hours. Some services will take a summer break during the month, and there will be exceptions to opening hours during Midsummer week. In addition, June offers a wide range of free activities, groups, excursions and events.

June Groups, Excursions and Events

Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre offers a wide range of group activities, events and excursions designed to bring young adults together, provide meaningful things to do during summer days, and create opportunities to learn something new in a relaxed atmosphere. For example, Tuesday mornings are spent in different locations enjoying coffee, light activities and good company.

In June, there are also several longer excursions and evening activities that offer a chance to step away from everyday routines, spend time in nature and meet new people. You can join the activities either by signing up in advance or simply by showing up, depending on the activity.

Mon 15 June, 15:00 Library Trip to the Central Library Saare. Joint departure from the lobby of Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre (Torikatu 10), or you can arrive directly at the library at 15:00. Register by 11 June by messaging Reetta (WhatsApp also works), tel. 050 312 5685. Please include your name and whether you will meet at Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre or go directly to the library.
Tue 15 June, 11:30–18:30 Adventure‑themed Cabin Olympics for young adults aged 18–29 at the Koppana camp centre. The trip includes transportation, dinner and a small snack. The bus departs from Oulu city centre at 11:30, and the return transport leaves Koppana at 18:00. Registration is open register here by 7 June at 23:59.

Services During June

Some services will take a summer break during June:

Study Guidance (by appointment): 12 June
Housing Advice (by appointment): 29 June
Substance Use Counselling: 23 June
Sexual Health Counselling (by appointment): 25 June

All other Byström One-Stop Guidance Centre services will be available as usual throughout June. On-site services include, for example, the walk‑in guidance service, youth information and counselling, employment services and outreach youth work. In addition, young people can book individual appointments as needed. Information about July services and any possible exceptions will be provided at the end of June.
