Youth information and counselling services are also available during the summer. The team members will take their holidays in turns, so services will continue into July as well.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can visit the walk-in service without an appointment between 12pm and 3pm until Thursday, July 9th. In the walk-in service, you can simply drop in with a small or bigger question. You can also remain anonymous if you wish. After a short summer break, the walk-in service will resume again on Tuesday, August 4th.

Appointments are also available throughout most of the summer, as the service will only be closed from July 13th to July 26th, during which time Byström One-Stop Guidance Center (Ohjaamo) will be completely closed.

During the summer, appointments can be made via the Byström One-Stop Guidance Center contact form, by calling 050 599 2293, or by email at bystrom@ouka.fi.

In Pulmakulma, you can ask questions and share your thoughts freely

In Pulmakulma, you can submit questions about topics you are wondering about and receive a comprehensive answer. You can also read questions submitted by others and, if you wish, take part in the discussion by commenting on conversations started by others. You can also submit your question privately, in which case you will receive a response directly to your email. The Pulmakulma website is in Finnish, but You can leave your question in English too.

Pulmakulma is also available during the summer. Please note that responses may be slightly delayed between July 20th and July 26th due to staff holidays.

Find your service – Löydä oma palvelusi, LOP

Those who seek will find many things – including through the Nuortenoulu website’s service search! The Find Your Service (LOP) search tool brings together a wide range of local peer support groups, meeting places, as well as services offering discussion support and individual guidance. Some of the listed services operate nationwide.

You can easily find a service that suits you by using the different search options. You can try selecting the topic, target group, and type of service at the same time, which will narrow down the results more precisely. For broader results, you can choose only one search criterion at a time. The service is unfortunately available only in Finnish.

  • Do you perhaps live alone and would like some company? You can search for different meeting places or online peer support groups by selecting the service type as “peer support” or “activities”.
  • Do you need someone to talk to or guidance? Choose “discussion support” or “guidance” as the service type.
  • Would you like to explore different hobbies? Select “leisure time” as the topic.

You can use Pulmakulma and LOP in Finnish

Pulmakulma and LOP are available only in Finnish. You find the links from the Support and guidance website.

Find answers and explore your options on your own

In the Information for young people section (Tietoa nuorille), you’ll find loads of content about things that matter in young people’s lives. You can read articles, watch videos on topics you’re interested in, and figure out answers to questions on your mind. There are also plenty of reliable links if you want to dive deeper and learn more.

Summer employees Eppu and Annika

Summer employees as part of the team

The City of Oulu offers summer internships for students, and after a one-year break, we also wanted to provide summer job opportunities for young people again. At the moment, our team is strengthened by two summer employees studying to become social services professionals (Bachelor of Social Services), Eppu and Annika. Among other things, they update the Summer Activities compilation, write articles, produce social media content, and organize summer activities.

Welcome to a board game picnic on Friday, June 26th, from 2pm to 4pm at Ainola Park. The meetup is at the Oulu sign. This event is for young people aged 18–29 – it’s completely free and substance-free, so everyone can feel safe and welcome.

Reading tip for the summer!

Back to closer cooperation with ERYICA

Great news for our team and youth adult services this spring was that we were accepted as a member of ERYICA at the Cooperating Organisation level. ERYICA is the European umbrella organization for youth information and counselling, with members in 26 European countries. Currently, there are no other ERYICA members in Finland. Through this membership, we will be able to revive our international cooperation and engage with the latest international phenomena and trends in youth information and counselling.
