Oulu Youth Services turns 80 this year—come celebrate with us. The purpose of the anniversary year is to highlight youth work, youth work professionals, and youth as a stage of life, but above all, you young people—because without you, there would be no us. The anniversary year is divided into twelve different themes through which the youth work carried out in Oulu is made visible.

  • The anniversary year brings a variety of events and activities throughout the year.

    •  Opening Festival of the European Capital of Culture Year, January 16–18.
      Youth Services program segment on Fri Jan 16, 6:00–6:30 PM at Valkea.
    •  Winter Break LAN Party and 80‑hour livestream
    • Kaikkien Kesäfestari (Everyone’s Summer Festival), Wed June 3, 2026.
      KKF is part of the cultural program for the European Capital of Culture year.
    •  Anniversary seminar for youth work professionals, networks, and partners.
    •  Autumn Break event
    •  Youth Christmas Party
    •  Youth Services 80 Years” exhibition at the central library Saari, December 11–30, 2026,
      opening on Fri December 11.
  •  Anniversary Year Themes – Each Month with Its Own Focus

    In 2026, each month has its own designated theme, which will be reflected in activities and communications in various ways.

     

    January:    The Anniversary Year Begins – The Story of Youth Services

     February: Support for the future – work, studies, and opportunities.

     March: Youth services for everyone – equality and safe spaces

     April: Sustainably toward the future – young people and the environment.

     May: Youth work close to young people – youth work in different environments.

    June and July: Summer belongs to young people – culture, encounters, and summer activities.

    August: More together – proudly community‑minded.

    September:  In the rhythm of young people – leisure, doing things together, and everyday joy.

    October: Well‑being for everyday life – movement, energy, and mental well‑being.

    November: Future and dreams – the right to dream and to build one’s own path.

    December: The conclusion of the anniversary year – gratitude, celebration, and appreciation

  •  In honor of the anniversary year, Youth Services will carry out 80 Cultural Climate Actions.

    An action can be anything that improves, develops, or promotes community spirit and positive activity. It can be an action carried out together with young people, something done for a larger community, or an initiative within the work community.

     

     

  • During the anniversary year, 80 commendations will be awarded. Commendations will be given to both staff members and young people. More information will follow later.

  • Youth Services 80 Years – exhibition at the Central Library Saari from December 11 to December 30, 2026; opening on Fri, December 11.

    The exhibition will also be available online, and a related photo exhibition will be published on the website.

  • Something big is happening during the winter break – Youth Services turns 80, and to celebrate, we’re launching an 80‑hour stream that kicks off on Tuesday, March 3, 2026!

     The full program will be announced later on the Finnish site and will be announced later, but even now: you can influence what the stream will include!
